brooklyn makers

I feel very honored to be included in The Makers photo project by Jennifer Causey.  These are some of the pages from Jennifer's new book Brooklyn Makers which includes 30 artists that she documented throughout the borough. Capturing the spirit of this handmade movement, she visits the studios and work spaces of a diverse group of makers that include distillers, florists, ceramicists, bakers, ax designers and other interesting crafters.  She interviews each to find out why they choose to live, and make their wares, in Brooklyn.  It's wonderfully insightful and beautifully photographed.  A truly inspiring book for any maker, or anyone who loves handmade goods.  Visit Jennifer's photography website to see more of her gorgeous work.  Thank you, Jen, for including Elephant Ceramics in such a lovely project!

baked cookbook

photos:  tina rupp

The new Baked Elements cookbook is out!  The authors, Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, have created amazing dessert recipes using their favorite 10 ingredients!  Baked is one of my favorite bakeries.  My old ceramic studio in Brooklyn was in Red Hook, very close to Baked.  I loved taking a break from working, running over there for a cup of coffee and a coconut macaroon dipped in chocolate!   Makes me a little wistful!  Photographed by the lovely Tina Rupp and prop styled by my dear friend, and super talent, Leslie Siegel.  Thank you, Matt and Renato, for the lovely credit in your book!  Thank you, Leslie, for including Elephant Ceramics!
